About us

We are a nonprofit organisation that advocates for the rights of Eritrean women.

Founded in 2013 by Eritrean women in the diaspora, at NEW we actively work to raise awareness about human rights, women’s equality, gender- based violence and harmful practices in Eritrea and beyond.

We encourage Eritrean women to tell their stories and share their experiences through various means including social media platforms.

Our Mission

Our mission is the to defend Eritrean Women from oppressive social, political, and economic practices that discriminate and harm against them.

Our mission is to advocate for the rights of Eritrean women and promote human rights, gender equality and social justice in Eritrea and across the globe.

“NEW is a space to promote all women, the topics they deal highlight many of the common struggles of Women in Africa. NEW’s clear vision and goals makes it a place for every Woman who seeks knowledge and the mechanisms for acquiring it. I learned a lot from the Network of Eritrean Women.”
